International In-home Senior Care Franchise Opens to Serve Seniors and Disabled Adults in Australia

BRISBANE, QLD — In line with global trends, the senior population of Australia is due for a significant upsurge over the next century. The Federal Government Inter-generation Report (IGR) projects that over the next 40 years, those 65 and older will make up 25 percent of the Australian population.  Compounding the growth of this population segment is the continued prevalence of dementia amongst those 65 and older, which is expected to impact nine percent of the population by 2030, amounting to 50,000 Australians.

While aged care continues to experience significant attention on local and national levels, the launch of the National Disability Insurance Scheme in Australia has for the first time highlighted Australia’s focus on disabled adults and ensured adequate funding for the disability sector. Over 460,000 Australians are expected to register under the scheme when it is fully implemented. Right at Home is in a unique position within the home care industry to support both seniors and disabled adults in maintaining healthy, independent lifestyles in their own homes and social surroundings.

In an effort to improve the quality of life of seniors and disabled adults throughout Australia, Right at Home, a leading international in-home care company, is introducing their new quality driven, client-centered care solution to the Brisbane community with a Grand Opening celebration on April 16, 2014.  The Grand Opening will be hosted by owners Daryl and Karen Sahli at Right at Home’s corporate office in Brisbane, located at Level 1, 101 Annerley Road, Woolloongabba.

The event, which will last from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm will feature guest speaker, Adam Stevenson, the General Manager of Client Services and Priority Sectors of Trade & Investment Queensland. Stevenson will address the economic benefits presented by new businesses and to the impact of the addition of Right at Home to the State of Queensland with a national office in Brisbane. Additionally, the Acting Executive Director for Disability Services in Queensland, Phil Grevell, will elaborate on the positive impact Right at Home will have in the Brisbane community with Right at Home’s focus on caring for disabled Australians a main focus for the company.

In addition to the Right at Home corporate team, local business owners, healthcare professionals, and city representatives, Right at Home will welcome two key members of their international operations team: Blake Martin, Vice President of International Operations, and Shannon Lakin, International Support Manager.

With the support of a corporate team bringing years of nursing, healthcare, and business experience to the Right at Home operations, Daryl and Karen Sahli are determined to provide the best medical and non-medical in-home care to seniors and disabled adults in Australia. Daryl and Karen have a deep understanding of entrepreneurship, franchising, and business operations having founded and operated a consulting firm that specifically helps franchise systems improve their operational efficiency. Beyond their professional experience, Daryl and Karen have been personally confronted with the challenges presented by caring for ageing loved ones.

“Both Daryl and I have aging parents, so on a very real and personal level, we saw firsthand the growing need for senior care solutions,” said Karen. “In fact, nearly everyone we know has family members who are entering their senior years. Unfortunately, we realized that many Australians were not familiar with all of the potential care options for their elderly and disabled loved ones. It’s our goal to provide a solution to this issue by introducing Right at Home to the country and the entire Australian community.”

“Our goal is simple — to improve the quality of life for Australian families,” Daryl said. “With Right at Home, we’ll be able to offer a quality of care that allows people to age in their own homes without compromising their lifestyles. We’ll also be able to alleviate some of the pressure and provide some peace of mind for families who are looking for care solutions for their aged or disabled loved ones.”  Of course, these pressures and care needs are not limited to Brisbane and Queensland alone.  The Right at Home team‘s ultimate goal is to provide quality care to seniors and disabled adults throughout the entire country and will expand services to metropolitan areas such as Sydney and Melbourne in the near future.

On a global scale, estimates show there will be over two billion people age 60 and older by 2050. While the in-home care industry is still in its infancy on a global front, and government regulations vary from country to country, the fact remains that the general public is ageing, living longer and wanting to spend their last years in the comfort of their own homes. Additionally, people aren't just growing older; they are living longer due to an increased commitment to health and wellness, as well as the advancement of medicine.

“With the substantial increase in the population of seniors throughout Australia, there is a huge and growing market for in-home senior care,” said Founder and CEO of Right at Home Allen Hager. “Fueled by Daryl and Karen’s experience, commitment and passion, we have an incredible opportunity to generate job creation and more business opportunities, but more significantly, to positively affect the health of the Australian population.”

In addition to Australia, Right at Home is providing in-home care to seniors and disabled adults in the United Kingdom, Brazil, China, Canada and Ireland.
